Althou...I find myself wondering these same things. Although Squeaks isn't school age yet, we've met some other kids and mothers who are really nice. I'm afraid that I'm trying to make a friendship out of what is simply an acquaintance, though. I really can't offer you any advice, but I say take her up on her offers of help.
