We've Got Poop

There's all kinds of shit going on at Casa J, literally!

Julianna has finally mastered the art of pooping on the potty. Yippee! No more diapers (well, except for bedtime). A nice little reprieve before baby number 2.

She was so excited when it finally happened. I have to admit, I had nothing to do with it. I was laying on the couch, (where you can usually find me these days) and she said she has to go potty. She walked to the bathroom, sat down on the big potty, and pushed out a little turd. All of a sudden I heard her yelling, "Mommmy, I did it!!!" It was awesome!

Hubby and I are getting ready to go to California over Labor Day weekend. We have a wedding at Disneyworld. J is staying with her grandma for 4 loooong days. Long for me, but probably not for her because grandma spoils her. She loves spending time with her.

Also, J has been doing really well with her eating. She's been trying all kinds of new things. She still prefers soft foods like pasta, but she ate a piece of cheese and some bread and she's feeding herself more.

Oh and hubby and I finally bought J a big girl bed. It comes next week. She seems excited about it but we'll see. It should'nt be too much of a transition because she's been getting out of her crib for months now. She wakes me up in the morning. I used to have a rule where she couldn't get out of bed, but she would call me endlessly from her room and it got annoying. As soon as she would wake up, she would say, "Mom, I'm awake, I'm awake," over and over until I came into her room. Being the lazy mom that I am, I told her it was okay for her to get out of bed and come see mommy, but that it was not okay to go downstairs by herself. So far she's been really good. I'm a light sleeper anyway, so I would hear her before she even got close to the stairs.

Oh, listen to this. When I first started this blog, I wrote a post about my favorite children's books. One of the ones I listed was titled, "Goodnight Little One," by Salina Yoon. Well guess who e-mailed me a few days back??? The author herself!! It was so awesome. She said she had read the post and wanted to say hello. I couldn't believe it. She has a new book coming out in October called, "Count My Blessings," about a bear who says his prayers and finds something to be thankful for in everyday life. She sent it to me with a personal message to J and she loved it.

I haven't posted in a while so I feel like I have to catch up a bit. Did anyone watch "So You Think You Can Dance?" Can I just say how much I loved Travis! He was awesome. Anyway, can't wait for my regular shows to come back on.

Okay, I'm going to stop rambling now. I've missed you guys. Can't wait to get back into the swing of things. A few more weeks and hopefully I'll feel a little more normal. Hope all is well!!!

Doctor, Doctor Give Me the News

The doctor went great today. Much better than expected. I was nervous about being behind in weeks but he said I'm right on target. 8 weeks and 2 days, just like my little picture to the left.

In the two weeks since I last visited the doctor, the baby grew a lot and that made me really happy. Oh and there's only 1 baby! Woo hoo!

My official due date is March 18, which is perfect because there are no other babies born in that month in my family. Between Hubby's family and mine it seems like we're always celebrating birthdays and we have to double up a lot. Not for this baby. He or she will have a birthday all their own.

Too bad the good news wasn't enough to make the morning sickness disappear. I still feel so yucky. It's hard because I feel okay in the morning and by the time lunch rolls around I really start to feel it. I get queasy and dead tired. I'm talking lay on the couch for 2 hours tired. My poor little J! She hasn't seen her beloved swingset in weeks. I feel so bad for her, but she's been sooooo good. I will have to make it up to her big time when this is all over.

Ok peeps, I'm tired. I'm off to bed. Sweet dreams to you all! :)

Fingers Crossed for Good News

So tomorrow is the big day. I go back to the doctor and hopefully we'll be able to hear a big, booming heart beat. I'm a little nervous but I think everything is going to be fine. I've felt so yucky for the past few weeks, but according to a lot of you, that's a good sign. I'll let you guys know what happens.

In other exciting news, J is officially using the potty!!! It wasn't intentional, but over the weekend, I didn't get to the food store and we ran out of diapers. She had to go so we told her to sit on the potty. She started crying and screaming, but but Hubby and I stuck to our guns and kept insisting that she sit on the potty.

The situation started to intensify and she got more and more upset. We promised her a new video, we said she could get a milkshake, we bribed her with whatever we could think of. Finally, Hubby just picked her up and sat her (forced her) on the potty. He made her sit there and she started peeing. I think she surprised herself because she immediately stopped crying and was like, "Mommy, I'm doing it!" We were both shocked.

We put her in underwear for the rest of the day and decided that this was her time, that she was ready. The second time she had to go, she was still a little apprehensive. It took some manipulating and talking into, but she went again and 4 or 5 more times after that. Each time it got a little easier. By the end of the day, she would run over to the potty all by herself and pee. It was so great to watch her overcome her fear and actually enjoy going to the bathroom.

I wasn't really prepared to start potty training this weekend, but the opportunity presented itself and we ran with it. The next day my SIL was watching her while Hubby and I went to a Sunday morning wedding. She would be away from us for most of the day and I was worried how she would do. I packed a ton of extra clothes and told my SIL that she's still very new at this (she's got 3 kids so she knows very well the perils of potty training).

Anyway, she did great. No accidents. The only problem is she won't poop. I don't know what to do about that. Right now, she poops in a diaper, we take the yucky stuff, flush it down the toilet and go right back to underwear. I don't know if that's the right thing or not, but she holds it until she gets a diaper so I don't want her to get sick. Any suggestions?

I'm so proud of my little munchkin. I actually can't believe how easy it's been so far. Don't get me wrong she's had plenty of accidents, but I mean easy in the sense of getting over her fear and then being willing to try everyday. I guess she was just ready.

Now if I could just get rid of this awful all day sickness, I'd be flying high. I miss all of you. I hope you're all doing well.

I'm Still Alive ... Barely

I hope you all haven't abandoned me yet. It sucks checking my e-mail and not seeing comments from my cyber friends. I want to get back into the swing of things but it's been so hard. Most days I want to snuggle in my bed and sleep for hours.

On the days that I have to work, it takes nothing short of a miracle to get my queasy butt in the shower. I'm fine when I have to teach classes but it zaps me of whatever energy I have left. For the past two weeks, every day that I get home from work I lay down on the couch and stay there for at least two hours. My poor, wonderful, understanding daughter has been awesome. She sits with me on the couch and watches a video or goes into her playroom and plays by herself. I can't believe how accomodating she has been. She even asks if she can rub my tummy to make me feel better. I just want to eat her up.

My husband, surprisingly, has been just as awesome. He comes home and does whatever I ask. Laundry, dinner, taking J out somewhere so I can get some rest, food shopping ~ you name it, he's done it. And he hasn't complained once about not getting laid in over a week. Every time I think about sex I want to throw up. Not because of him, but because I feel so lousy.

My only saving grace in the last few days has been something called Morning Sickness Magic. Ever heard of it? You put a tablespoon in whatever you're drinking and it takes away the nausea. It's got a bunch of herbs like ginger and vitamins, too. It has worked wonders for me. The only trouble is I hate the way it tastes and you're supposed to take it 4 times a day. Still, it works so I just hold my nose and chug it.

I go back to the doctor next Wednesday and hopefully we'll be able to hear a strong heartbeat and he'll tell me that I'm NOT having twins.

I hope you're all doing well!!
