Okay so there's no videotape, but I got your attention didn't I?
Thanks for all your comments and well wishes yesterday. I made a doctor's appointment for today at 3 o'clock. You guys are like my real-life mom yelling at me to see a doctor. I hate going. I feel like it's a waste of time. Especially since I have to bring a toddler in with me.
This is the first time I've ever had a UTI. Monday night, I felt this intense need to urinate. I was uncomfortable and every time I went to the bathroom only a little bit came out. It was painful and there was a weird smell. I checked out WebMD and all the symptoms were there.
Pain or burning when you urinate.
An urge to urinate frequently but usually passing only small quantities of urine.
Dribbling (inability to control urine release).
Pain or a feeling of heaviness in your lower abdomen.
Reddish or pinkish urine.
Foul-smelling urine.
Cloudy urine.
Pain in your back just below the rib cage, on one side of your body (flank pain).
Fortunately, J had some antibiotics left over from her last ear infection and I took some. Trying to sleep was useless, but after a while I started to feel a little better. I didn't have to get up every five minutes. And yesterday when I woke up, I was much better. Could one dose of antibiotics have cleared it up? Last night I felt a little uncomfortable again so I took another dose of antibiotics.
I'm pretty sure I know what happened. Hubby and I are trying to have another baby. So far we've been unsuccessful. It's actually been bumming me out a little because it didn't take very long to get pregnant with J and it's been a couple of months already.
Anyway, I had this brilliant idea - instead of going to the bathroom after sex, just go to bed. This way, all of his little swimmers could make their way to the land of fertilization without any problems. I've always peed after sex, but most of Hubby's 'love juice' leaks out before I even make it to the bathroom. BTW, is that normal? It feels like a lot sometimes, like everything he just ejaculated has spilled out onto the sock we use to clean up. And another thing I've always wondered ~ if he 'pulls out' like Hubby and I did for years, what do you use to clean up?
Soooo, I simply went to bed the past THREE nights after sex. Yes, I said THREE NIGHTS...IN A ROW! Chances are, that's why I got a bladder infection. I just wasn't sure if there was a mild version because every woman I've talked to says they last a couple of days. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens at the doc.
P.S. Check out Lollipop for more updates. Find out if you're carrying your baby the right way. Also, check out the shocking stats I found about daycare costs around the country.
Edited to add: I went to the doctor and I've got a bladder infection.

Yuck, UTI's are the worst. Julia just got over one and a bladder infection and she was *sick*. I hope you're feeling better soon.
I think it is normal for the 'love juice' to come out -- those swimmers are fast, they'll get there...but there's always gravity, you know? Good luck!
I have never had a UTI, however the women I knew that have say it is terrible. See a doctor, it can only help.
Always leakage! We have been trying too and have had no luck!! I know how frustrating it is!
Ok there's always leakage, but what worked for me when I was trying to get pregnant, and let me tell you it WORKED, was that hubby and I did it when I was ovulating. I usually counted 14 days after my period was done and that is when I was ovulating, that's when we did it the most LOL
Another thing was, right after sex, instead of getting up straight away and heading to the bathroom to clean up, I lay on my back for about 5 minutes just to increase the chances of the sperm making it to the RIGHT place LOL Then get up and go ahead and clean up etc.
I did this with 3 of my pregnancies, and got pregnant straight away. I'm not kidding you, the most it took me was a month to get pregnant :)
Good luck,
Sandra
yep i used gravity too...i would put a pillow under my bum and keep my legs in the air for 30 min after having sex when we were concieving (i was also taking fertilty drugs though)...and as for leakage...always
i'm glad you made a doctor's appointment. make sure you tell the doc that you took some antibiotics already (even though he will probably reprimand you for it), just in case it skews the urine test. (it's possible that the antibiotics you took cleared the UTI, but supposedly you should take the entire treatment, even after you feel better, so you won't get resistant to the antibiotic.)
hope you feel better! as for the jiz that spills out... i think it's normal. we use either his shirt, boxers or any dirty laundry laying around to clean up the juices (hehe).
as for getting pregnant, when your mucus discharge is stretchy (like uncooked egg whites), your chances of getting preggers is much higher (like sandra said, around ovulation). good luck!
I have to laugh about the "three nights in a row" thing. Yup, that sounds like my husband and me. Of course, I added another two nights in there just to be safe. Seriously by the fifth night, I was like, "Just put it in and get over it."
And leakage is totally normal. Kinda nasty, but normal.
Feel better soon!
UTIs are terrible, I have had three of them in my life. Good luck.
I always pee after sex too, funny because we are trying to get pregnant also and know you have me rethinking the peeing!
Yes, leakage is always an issue, but remember it's not just his fluids, it's yours as well. That's why it seems like so much.
There are lots of great tricks for getting pregnant quickly. I could write a book here about it, but instead I'll just say check out the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". Great book, and using their methods we were pregnant within a month with Cordy.
Yuck. UTI's suck the most.
Ok, when we used the "pullout" method, we used a lot of rolled up toilet paper. This is what my dr. told me and we got pregnant the first month. Count 14 days from the 1st day of your period and do it 6 days before that 14th day, and 6 days afterward. Of course we didn't do it everyday for 12 days, but like everyother day. and, the stuff that comes out is the actual "semen (sp?)" the sperm stay in and travel up. and my Dr. told me to always pee before and after sex. Of course, you will have a better orgasm if your bladder is full, so I never pee before, but always after.
UTI's are the worst. I feel your pain.
I've never had to try to conceive so I'm not really sure how that works. In my world I just ended up staring at pink lines wondering how the hell that happend.
Good luck with your trying to conceive, I'll send you lots of my fertility vibes. A friend of mine makes fertility bracelets that have worked like a charm on a lot of people. If you decide you want one, let me know. It's a little superstitious, I know.
UTIs sucks. I've had a few, but none of mine lasted long, either. It's definately worth going to the doc, just so you know it clears up.
Yeah, the leakage of "man juice" is normal. Now that I'm having birth control issues we're using condoms, but before I was pregnant I would always make a mad dash to the bathroom to leak out all of the baby batter. It always felt like so much!
Good luck with getting pregnant! I hope it works out for you soon, but if not, you're at least having fun trying (I hope).
Three nights of sex...in a row? That's like more than I've had in the last 3 months. Oops. Did I say that in public?
P.S. I hope the UTI clears up soon! Hang in there.
UTI is such a bitch. I know because I am so prone to it! uurgh...Peeing after sex will definitely help, but there are many other reasons how we get UTI.
Cranberry Juice dearie! It helps a little.
BTW- Humping like rabbits to get pregnant is an endless trail for us too. Well, I finally just found out I'm prego again, so after 2 years of aggravatingly trying I am now wondering what I got myself into AGAIN...hehe
Damn!!!
Nope, I got nothing else to add. Just -- Damn!!
Pretend like you don't want to get pregnant, that always worked for me! But, seriously, I hope that it works out for you soon and do whatever it takes to get the uti cleared up. If memory serves me right, they are extremely painful and probably not conducive to reproduction! Crossing my fingers . . .
Carrie
I am glad you did go to the doctor -- I hope it all gets completely cleared up too.
I also hope my husband doesn't read your blog and expect sex three nights in a row from me! ;-)
